Houston High School Alumni Association Meeting Minutes
November 24, 2008, 12:30 P.M., Miller's Grill, Houston, MO
In attendance: Bonnie McElroy, Terry Flowers, Jim and Karen Cavanaugh, Kay Honeycutt, Paul and Reta Ice, Sidney Bridges, Carol Silvey
October minutes were approved as read.
Treasurer's report was given each member and approved as presented with the following balances:
Restricted Funds: $161,333.96
Scholarship Checking: $1,922.08.
Carol Silvey, investment spokesperson for Foundation of the Ozarks - West Plains, presented an overview of scholarship fund investment options through the Houston Community Foundation.
Kay made a motion, seconded by Karen, that HHS alumni be invited to an informational meeting to discuss and vote on a possible new direction for the HHSAA structure regarding officer activities and investments. Motion passed and Karen was asked to get meeting information to the newspaper. All members are asked to call and talk with alumni and encourage participation in this meeting and on this decision.
Nominating committee chair, Terry Flowers, nominated the following slate of officers for 2008-2009:
President: Bonnie McElroy
Vice-President: Paul Ice
Treasurer: Sidney Bridges
Recording secretary: Karen Cavanaugh
Corresponding secretary: Kay Honeycutt
Historian: Doris Montgomery
Paul seconded the nomination. The new officers were approved.
The next meeting for the HHSAA will be January 26, at the First Baptist Church Library, at 7:00 P.M.
Meeting adjourned at 2:00 P.M.
